At 4 yrs of age PC showed early signs of the genius in him, by singing some of the toughest of maestro Ilayaraja’s compositions as swaras or notations. During high school days, music became his favourite hobby and a means of self expression as he spent most of his time composing tunes and experimenting with music. Before he knew, this hobby had transformed into his life’s greatest passion.
Academically strong, Shivan got into one of the country’s best tech schools, IITMadras. However, that did not hold him back from following his heart’s yearning. Having set his sight at the Indian music industry, he was determined to pursue music as a fulltime career. He turned down offers from some of the world’s best grad schools in order to continue his love with music. Though this came as a shock to his parents, they stood by him when they knew how much music meant for him. Shivan’s perseverence has paid him off now, as he creates his own space in the music industry, amongst some of the well established composers of today!
Living a life of passion, perseverence and perfection, P.C.Shivan attributes his success and form to the grace of God, with the humility and poise we normally expect from an accomplished veteran. It is easy to figure out that his work in Bayam Ariyaan and Chapter 6 are the beginnings of a great innings of a lifetime in music! Lets wish him all the best!
